Goodwood College is an urban Public Secondary School located in Cape Town, Western Cape. Goodwood College is a valid, registered, and prosperous school under the leadership of the Acting Principal Alicia Esau, teachers and supporting staff.
The school was established in 1941 in Epping Gardens, Cape Town. Over the past 70 years, the school’s name has changed several times, but the core values and principles remain steadfast. Over the past 70 years, the school’s name changed several times. It first changed to Goodwood-Epping High School, then to Epping High School. When the town’s name changed to Ruyterwacht, it became De Ruyter High School and finally Goodwood College. The school aims to develop their learners to the fullest potential, in order to achieve excellence in their future endeavours.

The staff at the school aims to support the learners to excel in all that they do. We instil values of discipline into our learners so that they are good leaders in the future. At Goodwood College, we pride ourselves in the successes and achievements of our learners. We have a team of dedicated educators who takes equal pride in delivering quality education as well as serving as caring professionals.
“Going the extra mile and delivering excellence” have become synonymous with the name, Goodwood College. We allow nothing to deter us from guiding and supporting every learner to strive towards reaching their highest potential.
At Goodwood College, we endeavour at providing a safe and nurturing school environment. All staff members, albeit educators, non-educators, administrative and support staff, work in synergy to create an atmosphere that is not only safe but also highly conducive to learning We place much emphasis on mutual respect and the inculcation of strong moral values in a disciplined environment.
We are forward thinking and are constantly seeking ways of preparing our learners for a changing future. The current development of a STREAM [Science Technology Robotics Engineering Aviation and Math] laboratory at our college is indicative of our commitment towards providing our learners with an extra edge above their peers in preparing them for the requisites of the 4IR.
In partnership with the Sakhikamva Foundation, we were privileged to officially open this facility on 3 Nov 2020. This facility is only the third of its kind in SA and will be providing each of our learners access and exposure to the most sophisticated equipment in Robotics, Coding and Aviation. The consistent, high academic achievements of our learners across all grades and subjects, is a testimony to the level of success, we attain at Goodwood College.
